Our work- Autumn Term:

We have learnt a lot since we started school in September, in particular how to be a good friend and how to share.

In Literacy we have been reading traditional tales such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood as well as a variety of other stories.  We have used Talk for Writing to help us remember the stories. We have been learning our sounds using Read Write Inc and can now recognise most of our single sounds. We are beginning to blend using these sounds in our reading books. We have started Talk for Reading using The Owl Babies to help us build up our understanding of a story. We have also been practicing writing our names, either in our handwriting books or on whiteboards with our name cards.

In Maths we have been using Numberblocks to help us learn our numbers to 5. We can now subitise using these numbers. This means we can look and see the number without having to count them! We have also been learning about 2D shapes and positional language as well as repeating patterns. We used leaves and acorns to help us make repeating patterns in the garden.

We have learnt about harvest by reading the Little Red Hen story and by talking about what harvest means. We have also learnt about Fireworks Night where we learnt a poem and put music to it.

We have worked really hard this term and cannot wait for this to continue after Christmas with our work on Beauty and the Beast.
