Our work- Spring Term:
Onyx class have done so well with their home learning about China.
In English, we have been writing a report about China, remembering to include sub-headings and interesting information. We have also been writing book reviews!
In Maths, we have been practicing our times tables to solve multiplication and division problems!
We saw some brilliant cooking for special fried rice. It looks delicious!
In DT, we were able to make masks to celebrate Chinese New Year! Here are some of our fabulous creations!
In Science, our topic was The Environment and we were able to identify different animals that live in the Rainforest!
Our work- Autumn Term:
In Maths we have been working hard to understand place value, explaining how many tens and ones a number has and applying our knowledge to reasoning problems. Other units we have learnt are money, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. Children enjoy working through challenges in Maths. We have also been practicing counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s so we are ready to learn our times tables.
In English, we have listened to traditional stories, such as The Three Little Pigs and written our own version of the tale. We have also written firework poems with great adjectives to describe and we have written a report about the life of Florence Nightingale, using sub-headings. Children were interested to learn facts about her and to understand why she was famous.
In Science, children have been keen to find out about living things and their habitats. We were able to go on a mini beast hunt on the school grounds, so that children could explain what they found and note it on their own map they had drawn of the school. Children have been keen to learn about famous inventors and scientists such as Charles Macintosh and Louis Pasteur.
Children have created sunflowers in the style of Vincent Van Gogh too!
