Tag Rugby success and another medal For JDP!
Friday 9th February after school we attended the final round of games for tag rugby. Our games were against Northlands and Great Berry which were going to be no easy games! We played Northlands first and because we hadn’t been able to train in the week it was a very scrappy first half with them having the upper hand, but we managed to just get ahead at half time. During the 2nd half the children showed it was just a bit of rustiness and finished with a 12-5 win. Next was Great Berry and the team were really in their stride now. Three quick tries and some amazing defending was a brilliant start and that continued to a 15-2 win, meaning that because of all their hard work they had earned themselves a silver medal! Well done everyone!
More medals for JDP!
Tuesday 6th February was the Basildon Cross Country event at James Hornsby and it looked to be an incredible windy day! Year 3 girls were first up. It was a brilliant effort from the girls with Hallie coming 12th, Callie 13th, Bella 19th and Scarlett 34th. The Year 3 boys were next up and saw what the girls had done and they didn’t disappoint. Theo finished in 6th place with Charlie just behind him in 8th joined by Oscar, Buddy, Junior and Joshua following after. The Year 4 girls kick started the medals for Janet Duke. All four girls showed brilliant running ability with three of them finishing in the top 5. Libby finishing the race in 2nd and Amelia in 3rd. They were joined by Seana in 5th and Chloe finishing 18th. The girls scored a fantastic 28 points which gave them 1st place as a team and have earned themselves a trip to the Essex finals! Year 4 boys were next and Rokas didn’t want to be out done. He ran a great race with a strong end to finish in 1st place. Also, earning himself a place in the Essex finals along with the girls. Alfie finished 20th, Archey 29th and Zack in 30th. Last year only 1 child made it from this year group, so to take five children this year is a great achievement for them. The year 5 girls were next up and the medals continued! Emily made a massive improvement from last year where she finished 31st. This year she had an outstanding run and got a gold medal, another Essex finalist! She was joined by Adella in 12th with Harlee and Shemariah behind her. Year 5 boys were to follow, all of them made a massive effort and finished the race strongly, ready to improve for next year. Year 6 finally got their turn to compete. The girls were first and were ready for the challenge. A strong 5th place finish for Emily with Natalie and Mylee not too far behind her. The Year 6 boys were the final race of the day. The boys were confident going into their race knowing they could do well. Harbor went off flying, even going past the pace maker at one point with Alan catching up to him during the race. Harbor ended his race in 3rd with Alan in 8th, Daniel 18th and Cody 36th place. We have 6 children that have qualified for the Essex finals at the end of March.
A fantastic effort from everyone!
