Our work -Spring Term:

During Spring term, we have moved to remote learning and live lessons over zoom. We have been recapping lessons on Money and telling the time to o clock, half past and learning our daily routines. We have been listening to songs about days of the week and months of the year and continuing to count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.

We have been using national Oak academy to learn the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and learning a new story ‘The Magic Paintbrush’. Children have been concentrating on number formation and their handwriting at home. They have been taking part in daily RWI lessons as well as outdoor/indoor fitness.

We have taken part in lots of topic 2do’s on purple mash. We have been creating our own beats using a variety of instruments in Music, Looking at animal groups in Science, Continents in Geography and old and new toys in History. Children have been adapting well to using online learning and increasing their computing skills

Our work- Autumn Term:

In Maths, we have been learning about place value, addition and subtraction, 2D and 3D shape, Money and Telling the time using o clock. We have also been counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and creating patterns.

In English, the whole school chose a Roald Dahl story to learn and read. Year 1’s chose ‘The enormous crocodile.’ We also used Talk for Writing to re-tell the story of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ which the children were able to create actions and re-tell independently. We also looked at bonfire and firework poetry along with fact files, writing postcards using Meerkat Mail and letters to Santa.

In Science, in the first half-term we learned about weather and the seasons. We looked at how the weather changes throughout the year and how our clothes need to change as a result. In the second-half of the term we were learning about different types of animals and their features.

In Art, we have been looking at colour mixing (Kandinsky) and the children have created various pictures using different media. We also looked at different celebrations over the last year including Diwali, bonfire night, thanks giving, Halloween and Christmas.

Year One

Harvest 2020

In Year One, we learned about where food comes from around the world.   We also learned the Harvest Samba song.

All the classes made a display from the fruits they had learned about.

We coloured in pictures of different food and learnt about where food comes from.  We also used purple mash to create our own harvest basket.

Children in Need Pearl Class

We dressed in sports wear or Pudsey clothes and donated money. We also used purple mash to design our own Pudsey bears. All week we have been joining Joe Wicks for his 5 minute workouts.
