Our work- Spring 1 Term:
This half term we have enjoyed learning about place value to 10 in maths. We can now talk about more and less and can use a rekenrek and tens frame to help us work out our number bonds to 10. We have also begun to practice our walker and jogger bonds and we are getting quicker each week.
In English we have been describing characters from our Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington, we have been describing and retelling the story. We will also be doing some instruction writing when we read ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad’. We will be using our 5 senses when we describe each fruit and then create a set of instruction of our own for making a fruit salad.
In science, we are working scientifically and carrying out lots of different science experiments. We will be carrying out; the skittles test, the dancing raisin test, the paper towel experiment, the ice experiment and the umbrella experiment.
In History we are learning about adventurers and explorers including, Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong, Sir Ernest Shackleton, Gertrude Bell and Christopher Columbus.
As you can see we are learning a lot in over the 6 weeks and we have plenty more to learn after half term.
Our work- Spring 2 Term:
Our Spring 2 topics will include; Let’s go on Safari and animal fact files, Handra’s Surprise and short story writing.
In maths, we will be learning our place value to 50, length and height as well as mass and volume.
In science we will be learning about animals and their features, linking with our English topic of safari.
In geography we will be learning about Africa and in art will be learning about African patterns, materials and printing.
